This will be one of the most anticipated days of the Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain Trek. Very early in the morning, we will depart for the majestic Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, also known as the Rainbow Mountain of Peru. We’ll begin our hike under a clear, starry sky, taking advantage of the tranquility of dawn to enjoy the trail without crowds and capture unforgettable photographs.

The trail gently ascends for a few minutes until reaching the highest point, where we’ll be amazed by the beauty of Rainbow Mountain (5,100 m / 16,732 ft), one of the most iconic landscapes in the Vilcanota mountain range. From here, our guide will share information about the geological formation of this natural wonder and the minerals that give it its vibrant hues.

We’ll have time to enjoy the panoramic views, breathe the pure Andean air, and connect with the energy of the place. After approximately 45 minutes, we will begin our return to camp along the same trail, crossing small valleys and observing the local people who still keep alive the ancestral traditions of llama herding, just as in the times of the Inca Empire.

Upon arriving at camp, we will rest and enjoy a well-deserved lunch before continuing our Ausangate trek. In the afternoon, we will resume our trek for three hours to the Ausangate Qocha Camp (4,500 m / 14,763 ft), walking along the slopes of colorful mountains that seem painted by nature.

At the end of the day, we will enjoy traditional afternoon tea and a delicious dinner prepared by our team, surrounded by a peaceful environment and sacred mountains that accompany our rest.
