Live an unforgettable experience with our excursion to the Maras and Moray salt mines, two of the most fascinating destinations in the Sacred Valley.
We will begin by exploring Maras, an impressive complex of more than 3,000 salt pans used since Inca times, where local families still continue this ancestral method of artisanal extraction.
Then we will visit Moray, a unique archaeological site formed by circular terraces that the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory, demonstrating their advanced knowledge of agriculture and the weather.
This half-day excursion is perfect for those who want to discover the history, engineering, and most amazing landscapes of the Sacred Valley in a short amount of time.
Our tour of the Maras and Moray Salt Mines begins with a pickup from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. From Cusco, we will travel to Maras, a picturesque colonial town surrounded by stunning Andean landscapes. There we will visit the famous Maras salt mines, used since pre-Incan times and still active today, where the locals continue the traditional artisanal extraction.
Then we will continue to Moray, a set of circular terraces that served as an Incan agricultural laboratory, where they experimented with different microclimates to improve crops. You will be able to explore its trails, admire the Inca engineering, and observe how the temperature varies between the highest and lowest terraces.
During the return to Cusco, we will enjoy beautiful landscapes with snow-capped mountains and agricultural fields that complete this unforgettable experience. Estimated arrival time in Cusco: 2:30 p.m.
